All-New Nissan Navara offers largest ever accessory range

ROSSLYN, South Africa,  5 April 2017 – Nissan South Africa has redefined the market for vehicle accessories by introducing the most comprehensive range of manufacturer-approved accessories yet available on a pick-up.

Nissan Navara

Available from launch, the all-new Nissan Navara has no less than 67 approved accessories developed in partnership with Nissan Approved suppliers. These range from the expected, such as airbag-safe waterproof seat covers and cattle rails, to the surprising, such as LED-lighting for the tow bar, off-road performance coil springs and 7” blast LED spot lights.

“Our accessory team worked alongside the approved supplier teams to prepare and validate the range of accessories in step with the local durability testing of the all-new Navara,” says Tony Minnie, Head of Aftersales at Nissan South Africa. “This means that every single accessory is available from launch and is approved for fitment on the Nissan Navara.”

Minnie and his team, together with a number of approved suppliers, individually developed and validated each accessory and have since grouped them into applications. These include cosmetic upgrades, off-road applicable upgrades and functional upgrades.

For the “Urban Explorer”, Nissan has developed a range of cosmetic accessories to highlight the Navara’s striking new design. Accessories in this category include riveted fender flares, a black or alloy nudge bar and matching rear sportsbar, a wide range of different decal kits and headlamp and tail lamp surrounds.

Other cosmetic accessories include a bonnet guard, tonneau cover and window visors with a unique matt black treatment

While the urban explorer-treatment will no doubt be very popular, Nissan believes its new range of off-road-ready accessories will find equal favour among enthusiasts who have overlanded in the previous generation Nissan Navara.

The “Off-Road Brute” brings surprising new accessories to the market, including a heavy-duty rear steel bumper with high-lift jack points. It also offers side steps with side rails that extend their protection all the way across the front fenders to the new replacement bumper.

The bumper adds high-lift jack points and fits flush to a special underbody protection plate-kit, that further protects the new engine and drive train during heavy off-roading. Owners can also add a 9 500-lb winch with either a steel or synthetic cable and heavy duty recovery points.

Says Minnie: “The Genuine Nissan bumper replacement not only dramatically increases front-wheel accessibility and the approach angle for technical off-road work, but it retains the Navara’s five-star Australian NCAP safety rating.”

Nissan also offers everything that bakkie-owners have come to expect from their Navara. This include canopies, a range of stylish alloy wheels, rubberising or a loadbox rubber mat, smash-and-grab protection, headlight covers and Thule roof racks.

“In our preparation for the new Navara, we spent a great deal of time with Navara enthusiasts and have subsequently added some very special items to our canopy range. Beside the two fibreglass canopy options, you can also specify a stainless-steel version and add items such as side gullwing doors, a roof mounted table, LED interior lighting and even a 3/4 or full kitchen unit,” says Minnie proudly.

Every Nissan dealer has been fully trained on the fitment of all accessories and every dealer has been equipped with special tools to ensure that fitments are done to manufacturer standards.

“Owners can have any single item fitted by a Nissan dealer and they will retain their vehicle warranty and receive a fitment and workmanship warranty for the accessories as well,” says Minnie. “These accessories were developed in partnership with some of the best off-road companies in the world, including Ironman 4×4, but they will only be available for fitment from an approved Nissan dealer.”

While all accessories are available for single fitments, Nissan will offer a special launch kit in partnership with Ironman 4×4. The kit includes the heavy duty replacement bumper, recovery points, under body protection plates, a suspension upgrade, side steps with additional side rails and a heavy duty rear steel bumper.

“With this range of accessories, the new Navara takes the crown from the NP300 Hardbody, which held the record for the most factory-approved and dealer-fitted accessories and still offers buyers an impressive range of accessories,” says Minnie.
