AFRIT Trailers launched a joint venture with Phuma Commercial Cover
AFRIT Trailers is a family-run business based in Rosslyn Pretoria, with a heritage spanning more than 40 years. Manufacturing trailers for the road transport industry within Southern Africa, AFRIT is currently one of the leading and most respected trailer manufacturers in the country with approximately 25% market share. MD Andre van de Wetering says: “Sales are in line as we reach the half way point in 2014.
AFRIT’s sales charts are very much in line with the 2013 year-to-date. Unfortunately, the strikes had a large impact on the industry but we are coping with it through contingency plans.” AFRIT’s effective design and manufacturing processes constantly address the balance between strength, mass and durability, while its fully-equipped on-call mobile maintenance and after-sales service teams ensure customers have all the support they need.
With the constant drive for greater payload, less downtime and lower maintenance cost, AFRIT is able to analyse the requirements of its customers and to provide innovative solutions to optimise customers’ return on investment – which is why even the standard range of trailers is everything but standard.
Investing in technology is key to ensure AFRIT’s products are always in the forefront of the latest innovative designs and construction. From the drawing board to final production, utilising state-of-the-art software, simulation tools and cutting-edge production methods, products are refined and tested in a virtual environment, ensuring that optimal quality is achieved without ever compromising the integrity of its products.
AFRIT’s top-sellers The top-sellers at AFRIT are the side-tipper and sliding-curtain trailers. Customised products are always in demand, but it is the company’s standard range that creates the biggest waves in the industry.
AFRIT has reached a point where, given the available materials, they do not believe in making the current designs any lighter.
Recent market research indicated that, despite being the market leaders in providing lightweight trailers, they have had to addnweight on specific designs operating in certain areas, so as to withstand the road conditions in large parts of South Africa and the bigger Southern African region.
New at AFRIT AFRIT launched a joint venture with Phuma Commercial Cover in which they offer fleet owners the opportunity to purchase separate insurance for their trailers.
This innovative new product, Trailersure, will allow customers to not only diversify their total insurance risk profile, but they are offered premium insurance at exceptional value. As an introduction to Trailersure, AFRIT offers three months worth of complimentary insurance on any new trailer bought.
