- Toyota South Africa drives equestrian excellence in partnership with Kyalami Park Club.
- The Hilux Legend 55 will Lead The Way in celebration of equestrian legends, past and present.
Johannesburg, 14 February 2025 – Kyalami Park Club is thrilled to announce that 2025 will be the Year of the Legend, brought to you by Toyota. Every year, equestrian excellence is elevated and in true Toyota style, The Year of the Legend promises more: bigger prizes, more participants, unbeatable entertainment and passionate professionalism – all in pursuit of perfection.
Following last year’s hugely successful Toyota Triple Crown, the stakes have been upped for 2025, with the Olympic discipline of dressage being added to the showjumping portfolio. Unlike other sports, the equestrian calendar is active all year round, requiring an incredible amount of energy, effort and enthusiasm from owners, riders, grooms, judges and administrators. Thousands of people go above and beyond every day, for their love of the horse and their drive for constant improvement in pursuit of their purpose.
Present at the launch were dressage legends Adriaan van Wyk, Karen Keller and Helen Laros; as well as showjumping superstars Gail Foxcroft, Tony Lewis and Barry Taylor.
It’s a rare occasion for so many of the industry’s masterminds to gather – a true indication of the importance of this valued sponsorship.
“It’s difficult to put into words what Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM), unwavering support means to the horse community,” smiles Heather Mpofu, Kyalami Park Club Event Director. “Their backing empowers Kyalami Park Club to elevate the disciplines of both showjumping and dressage to new heights. Aligned with our goals and vision for equestrian sport, this is the year in which we celebrate our founding members; the legends present amongst us; and those who promise to Lead The Way in the years to come. 2025 is Kyalami Park Club’s Year of the Legend, brought to you by Toyota.
A year where we celebrate all the horses, riders, grooms, officials, volunteers and staff – our legends – who make our sport what it is. We will pay respect to past legends; celebrate with our current legends and look forward to the road ahead with Toyota in tow.”
Kyalami Park Club will host the 2025 Toyota South African Dressage Championships from 15th to 21st September. In full support of the country’s most fiercely contested and most coveted title, Toyota will award the 2025 Toyota South African Dressage Champion a chic Toyota Starlet Cross. This first of its kind prize will undoubtedly lead to more entries and an even tougher competition than before, with only the very best horse and rider combination set to drive home in style.
“At Toyota South Africa, we believe in the power of sports to bring people together in an impactful manner. Our continued partnership with the Kyalami Park Club aligns to Toyota’s commitment of excellence and with the Club’s vision of encouraging and inspiring all role players in the equestrian community to push past their limits. Synonymous with a rich South African heritage, strength and reliability, the Hilux Legend 55 is a fitting vehicle to pair with this iconic partnership. We are excited to Lead The Way with our equestrian legends,” says Glenn Crompton, Vice President of Marketing at TSAM.
The showjumping series consists of the family fun and entertaining Toyota Easter Festival; the Toyota Midrand World Cup Qualifier and the historic Toyota South African Derby – all hosted by Kyalami Park Club. Running from Easter through to October, the shows will test the best and see legends rise to the top through passionate partnerships, perseverance and professionalism. This year’s showjumping winner will trade their saddle for the seat of another legend, in the form of a brand-new Toyota Hilux D/C Legend proudly sponsored by Toyota South Africa.
