Mahindra will showcase its entire range of pick-ups and SUVs, a selection from its new tractor range and a new edition from its catalogue of yellow metal equipment at the Nampo Cape expo in Bredasdorp in the Western Cape.
Nampo Cape kicks off on Wednesday 4 September and will be open for visitors until Friday 6 September.
“We are excited to have an opportunity to showcase three of our four main business lines at Nampo Cape. Most importantly, this will be the first opportunity to show the agricultural community in the Western Cape why Mahindra is the world’s largest manufacturer of tractors and other farming equipment,” says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa.
Tractors – the 6 000 and 7 500 Series
Mahindra will show three models from the comprehensive range of tractors that it launched earlier this year.
First in line is the 6 000 series, which will be represented at Nampo by the 62HP 6 065 model with four-wheel drive.
The 6 000 series is an ideal compact tractor for farm maintenance, feed and hay making, material handling and speciality farming. It is equipped with a water-cooled engine; direct fuel injection and turbo charging, and the range has a power output of 57 to 73 horsepower.
The 6 065 and 6 075, with its more powerful 73 HP engine, is available in two- and four-wheel drive and all but the entry-level 2WD 6065 has 15 forward and 15 reverse gears and electrostatic power steering.
Mahindra will also showcase two 7 000 series models, fitted with identical 92 HP four-stroke direct injection turbo-diesel engines, but showing the different two-wheel and four-wheel-drive drivetrains.
The 7 500 Series is the world’s first tractor to win the Japan Quality Medal and the Deming Prize and is one of the global favourites from Mahindra’s large stable of farming equipment. All 7 500 models offer dual power take-off speeds and an independent power take-off system, with a dual-clutch system and 12 forward and 12 reverse gears.
“Since launching our first tractors in May this year, we have seen a rapid increase in interest from commercial and hobby farmers alike. We believe our combination of affordable prices and very durable engines will also find favour with visitors to Nampo in Bredasdorp,” says Gupta.
Mahindra pick-ups and SUVs
Mahindra will also showcase its entire range of vehicles at Nampo. This includes the Mahindra Bolero, the S11 Scorpio, the recently upgraded XUV500 and KUV100 NXT and the newest model, the XUV300 compact SUV.
Mahindra will also have two special editions on show, which were created specifically for the Nampo show.
The Hun-Thar is a custom-designed Thar for the leisure hunting market. It is fitted with a new hunting frame instead of the traditional canvas or hard top and has special off-road equipment such as a custom front replacement bumper and an off-road bumper at the rear.
The second special edition model on show is the Mahindra Pik Up S6 Farmer’s Edition. This special edition model is available at a special show price of R269 999 at Nampo and is only available in single cab configuration.
The Farmer’s Edition offers as standard equipment a cattle rail, front and rear heavy-duty replacement bumpers, alloy wheels and a snorkel. Only a limited number are available, and if the Nampo show in Bothaville in May this year was any indication, then this model is sure to sell out at the show.
Earth-moving equipment
Mahindra will use Nampo in Bredasdorp to introduce the Western Cape market to its newest VX90 4WD EarthMaster backhoe loader.
The VX90 recently received an upgrade and is now available with an optional air-conditioned cabin and a 91 HP four-cylinder engine of 3.5 litres. Among the many improvements to the VX90 are better mechanical operation, which allows the oils to last between 500 hours (engine) and 2 000 hours (hydraulic oil), more ergonomic controls and a 1-year / unlimited kilometre warranty.
