MAN completes over 300 technical checks on running buses

During the pre-holiday season months of October and November 2017, MAN Automotive’s after sales network has successfully completed 318 technical health checks on the running bus fleet.

These technical checks were conducted absolutely free of charge to the MAN and VW bus customers who presented their vehicles for detailed inspections at authorised MAN Franchised Dealers.

Professional inspections were carried out on the following items:

  • Brakes
  • Steering and suspension
  • Fluid levels
  • Lights and warning indicators
  • Wiper blades and windscreens
  • Door mechanisms
  • Batteries

Of the 318 vehicles which underwent these inspections, 177 required some form of rectification work, which was then completed to the required MAN standards.

This statistic once again re-enforces the importance of having a trained professional evaluate your rolling assets.

“This bus and coach focussed health check campaign followed the very successful truck campaign which was conducted earlier this year,” commented Anton Fuchs – MAN’s Head of Parts & Services Sales.

“These promotions are a fantastic way to get all MAN and VW customers to visit our facilities, and to give our well-trained technicians the opportunity to point out areas of the vehicle which do not meet required MAN or legal standards, and then of course, to fix those shortcomings during the same visit – reducing downtime to an absolute minimum”

General Manager of United Truck Centre in Polokwane, Jacques Swanepoel enthused: “Our team used this initiative to give added momentum to our ongoing Striving for Excellence customer focus programme. It has helped us evaluate many buses which we are servicing in the Mokado and Hoedspruit areas too, thereby ensuring higher up-time productivity of our Customers’ fleet whilst achieving improved running cost efficiency at the same time. We are sure that bus & coach clients across South Africa will be benefitting in the same way”

“The Health Check programme on buses and coaches is a tangible value-added service offered by our after sales team, and clearly is very popular with our demanding customers. It gives us all much greater peace of mind when we know that a considerable number of MAN buses and coaches, which will be mobilised over the festive season, have had additional technical checks completed and are at a standard required for safe, trouble-free journeys,” added Philip Kalil-Zackey, Head of Bus Sales at MAN Automotive.
