Pretoria – Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA) is proud to announce that it has been certified by the Top Employers Institute for its exceptional employee offerings. The Top Employers Institute globally certifies excellence in the conditions that employers create for their people. The institute announced the results of this year’s research into the employee conditions of significant employers in South Africa in Johannesburg last night with MBSA receiving Top Employers South Africa 2017 certification.
The annual international research undertaken by the Top Employers Institute recognises leading employers around the world: those that provide excellent employee conditions, nurture and develop talent throughout all levels of the organisation, and which strive to continuously optimise employment practices.
Mercedes-Benz South Africa is proud to be officially recognised as a leading employer
Mercedes-Benz South Africa is proud to be officially recognised as a leading employer. “This recognition serves as a benchmark proving that Mercedes-Benz South Africa is amongst the world’s leading employers. Receiving this recognition from a third party organisation, validates our efforts to create an exceptional employee experience journey, an achievement our Human Resources department is very proud of,” said Executive Director for Human Resources, Johann Evertse.
Crucial to the Top Employers process is that participating companies must undergo a stringent auditing process and meet the required high standard in order to achieve the certification. This audit has verified MBSA’s outstanding employee conditions and earned it coveted spot among a group of certified Top Employers.
Mercedes-Benz South Africa ’s employee offerings were assessed on the following criteria: Talent Strategy, Workforce Planning, On-boarding, Learning & Development, Performance Management, Leadership Development, Career & Succession Management, Compensation & Benefits and Culture.
Samantha Crous, Regional Director Africa for the Top Employers Institute stated: “Optimal employee conditions ensure that people can develop themselves personally and professionally. Our comprehensive research concluded that Mercedes-Benz South Africa provides an outstanding employment environment and offers a wide range of creative initiatives, from secondary benefits and working conditions, to performance-management programmes that are well thought out and truly aligned with the culture of their company.”
In 2015, MBSA spent R65mio on various training programmes and initiatives. The company’s development programmes include leadership development programmes, technical programmes, graduate programmes, disability learnerships and bursaries for high school learners and tertiary students. All these programmes form part of the bigger drive for lasting and meaningful transformation in South Africa. Earlier this year, MBSA, in a public-private-partnership and co-funded with the Jobs Fund, officially opened the Mercedes-Benz Learning Academy in East London, where the company’s plant operations are based. The academy trains 152 of learners a year for the automotive industry.
Evertse concluded: “Our employees and their wellbeing is of the utmost importance to us. It is therefore a business imperative that we continuously work towards optimising our employee conditions in order to meet their dynamic needs –this we do through our world class processes and programmes. This certification has officially put a stamp on this. We are very proud of the achievement.”
