The motorsport community is alive with anticipation as some of South Africa’s most well-known drivers prepare to take on the ultimate test of skill and precision in the upcoming Killarney Time Attack powered by MasterDrive. This is not just another day at the races, but an opportunity to test man and machine against the clock.

Those entering the Killarney Time Attack powered by MasterDrive speaks volumes about the quality of competition expected. Coastal GM at MasterDrive, Eugene ‘Gino’ Nourse, says: “Leading the impressive field are the likes of Franco Scribante and Nian du Toit, including the superbike champion Kewyn Snyman.

We are also honoured that Guy Davies will compete in the Killarney Time Attack in the Liqui Moly Porsche. He is a paraplegic driver who proves that true racers do not let obstacles define them. Disability can happen to anyone, at any stage in life, but with the right adaptions and opportunities, drivers like Davies compete on equal terms, pushing themselves and their machines to the limit.

The Time Attack not only welcomes seasoned veterans but emerging talent as well. “For budding drivers, this represents a chance to share the same circuit and test one’s skills against some of South Africa’s most recognisable motorsport competitors. It is an opportunity for lap times to tell the story in each class, regardless of reputation or experience level.”

The challenge becomes more interesting with the decision to run the circuit in reverse configuration. “This twist eliminates any home advantage and places every driver on equal footing. Even the most experienced competitors will need to reaccustom themselves to the track.

A reverse layout truly separates the adaptable from the merely fast. The Killarney Time Attack will reward those who can quickly read the track and still excel under completely new conditions and be crowned as the King of Killarney.

While entries officially closed, life can sometimes interfere with the best-laid plans. “Following several requests, a limited 48-hour extension may be considered upon request. We are committed to ensuring competitors are not unfairly excluded due to circumstances beyond their control.”

Beyond the intense on-track competition, Killarney Time Attack powered by MasterDrive will be the complete family experience. Spectators can witness the excitement of passenger drift experiences on the spinning pitch, where skilled drivers showcase vehicle control in its purest form.

The dedicated children’s entertainment area ensures younger family members remain engaged throughout the day. Various food vendors and the option to pack your own snacks, makes this an ideal weekend outing for motorsport-loving families.

The event perfectly embodies MasterDrive’s philosophy of promoting safe motorsport where drivers can push boundaries without compromising safety. The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says: “With a professional setting, correct safety protocols and experienced marshalling, demonstrate how motorsport passion can be pursued responsibly.

“The Killarney Time Attack powered by MasterDrive is more than just a competition. It is an opportunity to show appreciation of driving skill, mechanical precision, and the pure joy of motorsport in a controlled environment. We support making motorsport more accessible and this is just another step toward that objective,” says Herbert.
