RSP-SA’s AGM calls for urgent action

Despite numerous safety interventions, South African roads remain in a crisis of loss and risk that demands immediate attention. The Road Safety Partnership South Africa (RSP-SA) is hosting its 15th Annual General Meeting (AGM) under the theme ‘Road safety education: empowering the next generation.’

The RSP-SA says the AGM is crucial in encouraging all to join hands against issues affecting a vulnerable demographic – the children and youth. “The theme emphasises the urgency and necessity of transforming approaches to road safety. It is a call to action to revolutionise how we perceive, educate, and safeguard the lives of our young ones.

“The AGM will share valuable information from influential voices. Experts will address child safety, road engineering and advocate greater change. Presentations will include strategies, insights, and address the multifaceted challenges the youth faces as road users,” says RSP-SA.

Topics under discussion:

  • Road safety the Vodacom way
  • Address by Dave Cliff – CEO of the Global Road Safety Partnership
  • Why it can only be Zero presented by the Research Director, Tanya Fosdick, at Agilisys
  • First hand experience from an accident survivor

The theme will address and motivate greater responses to the escalating crisis of road crashes among the youth. “Statistics show South Africa is grappling with a staggering number of road crashes involving teens and children.

“Road traffic injuries are estimated to be the leading cause of death for those between 5 and 29. Globally, millions of young lives are affected annually as well. These aren’t just statistics; they are stories of shattered dreams, altered futures, and families forever changed,” says the RSP-SA.

Attend the AGM

The RSP-SA invites all stakeholders to attend. “Be part of a revolution that aims to redefine how to protect a precious asset – children. The AGM is a platform to gain insights, share experiences and contribute to a collective roadmap for change.

“The 15th RSP-SA AGM will provide an enhanced understanding of the road crisis while contributing to solutions. A road safety revolution begins with each of us. Join us on this journey to safeguard and empower our youth and redefine the road safety narrative. Together, let’s create a safer road environment where children can thrive.
