Serco has delivered 70 refrigerated trucks to Vital Fleet, part of Vital Distribution Solutions, a large logistics company operating throughout southern Africa. Debi Dabner, Fleet Manager at Vital Fleet, said the new trucks brought to more than 100 the number of units her company had bought from Serco over the past three years, boosting Vital’s fleet to in excess of 500.

Vital, which also has extensive warehousing capabilities, transports a variety of goods for customers – big and small – in South Africa and neighbouring countries. Company headquarters are in Johannesburg, with branches in Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Namibia and Botswana.

Dabner said the latest vehicle bodies from Serco meant Vital now offered an improved transport solution for cold-chain goods. “Secure transport from cold storage warehouses on to refrigerated trucks and straight to the customers’ facilities.” She said more business was in the pipeline for Serco.
