Women With Drive introduces the Legacy Awards

Ten years ago, Women with Drive was hosted for the first time

Ten years ago, Women with Drive was hosted for the first time, giving South African women working in transport, automotive, logistics, and mobility a voice built on recognition and connection. This year, Women with Drive – JIVE will mark that milestone with something new: the Legacy Awards – Women who’ve Driven Change.

It is the first formal awards process Women with Drive has run in its decade of existence. The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says:

“The intention is to recognise the women who have shaped the industry from the inside as a nod to all the women that have interacted with and been a part of Women with Drive.”

Four categories are open for public nomination.

1. The Trailblazer Award: recognises a woman who was first, or among the first, in a leadership role in transport, automotive, or logistics. It honours those who walked in without a blueprint to follow and made one anyway.

2. The Community Builder Award: goes to a woman who has built networks, mentorship programmes, or platforms that uplifted other women in the industry. It rewards their impact that reaches beyond one career and into a community.

3. The Rising Star Award: is open to women under 35 in transport, mobility, or automotive, and celebrates the next generation already reshaping the sector. It is a category built for the women who will carry Women with Drive into its next decade.

4. The Ally of the Decade Award: a category open to any woman who champions gender equity within a transport or mobility position. It recognises that progress rarely happens without allies willing to make room for others to lead.

5. The Lifetime of Drive Award: This is a special recognition award, not part of the public nomination process but chosen with careful consideration by a judging panel. It goes to a woman who gave 15 years or more to transport, logistics, or road safety. A female leader who shows up consistently. Their career story moves through every chapter Women with Drive has stood for over ten years: thriving, living, striving, arriving, and now JIVING.

If there is someone working within mobility who

Those working within the sectors that interact with the mobility sector, have the power to determine who is recognised. “Individuals can nominate the women who will be recognised at the Legacy Awards. If there is someone working within mobility who immediately comes to mind within one of these categories, this is your chance to ensure they stand a chance to be recognised.

If you have knowledge of the impact a woman has had within their circle, ensure you share this to further boost their efforts. The strongest nominations are specific: a project launched, a programme built, a door held open. If has caught attention, it deserves recognition.

Beyond the four public nomination categories Women

Beyond the four public nomination categories, Women with Drive – JIVE will also include two special recognitions awards decided independently by a judging panel. “All recipients will be revealed on the day of the event during a special awards ceremony.

“The Legacy Awards are a chance to make sure that the work moving the industry forward does not go unnoticed. If there’s a woman, or an ally, whose impact deserves to be seen, now is the time to nominate them. Do not wait until the room is applauding someone else’s name when it could have been theirs,” says Herbert.
